Aberdare National Park
The Aberdare National Park was created in 1950 to protect the forested slopes and moors of the Aberdare Mountains. Aberdare National Park is a high altitude national park created to protect the slopes and moorland of the Aberdare Mountains. It is a 767 KM2 National park in the Central Highlands west of mountain Kenya, 180 KM from Nairobi. The Aberdares’ highest peaks, which rise to 13,120 feet, were famous as a hideout of the Mau freedom fighters in the late 1950s. The Aberdares are part of Kenya's well-known mountains. The Aberdares National Park is found north of Nairobi in central Kenya. They are the moorlands full of mist and here elephants roam through the thick dense forest and sights of spectacular waterfalls plunging down into pools and streams filled with trout. The National Park lies mainly above the tree line running along the 10,000ft contour with some forest and scrub at lower altitude in the 'salient' area near Nyeri with the boundary running down to the 7000ft contour.

How to reach Aberdare National Park:
Reach By Road: Aberdare is 160 km from Nairobi. The best access route is from the towns of Nyahururu and Naivasha. There is a tarmac road from Nyeri and Naro Moru on the eastern side of Aberdare. From Nyahururu, we will use the Rhino Gate, Shamata Gate and from Naivasha, use the Mutubio Gate.
