Central Island National Park
The Central Island, also known as Crocodile Island, is a volcanic island located in the middle of Lake Turkana in Kenya. These are Central Island is only 5 KM2.Central Island has three scenic crater lakes like Crocodile, Flamingo and Tilapia. The island is a favourite place for breeding crocodiles as well as migratory and resident birds. It is an important stopover for migrant waterfowl, home to large breeding colonies of hippo and Nile crocodile and also has several species of venomous snakes. Some of the activities available are; climbing, camping and walking through the nature trails. These shallow waters around the island are what the crocodiles like; this is where they are most successful in catching fish. It is tend to avoid deep water and rough, wind-swept, lake surfaces. The egg-laying for these reptiles is normally in the period November/ December. There are three months later, the mothers return to the beaches to assist the young ones to dig their way out of the sand.

Reach By Road: The Central Island National Park is 800 kilometres from Nairobi to Lake Turkana, then take a boat from Sibiloi National Park or from Lodwar.These are access from Nairobi is by the main Nairobi-Moyale road or from Maralal to Loiengalani through Baragoi and South Horr.
