Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park is a Tanzanian national park. Lake Manyara was made a National Park in 1960 and surrounded about an area of 330 KM2, of which some 230 KM2 are lake.Laken Manyara is a lovely scenic park on the road from Arusha to the Ngorongoro Crater. The compact game-viewing circuit through Manyara offers a virtual microcosm of the Tanzanian safari experience. Among the attractions of the often underrated Lake Manyara National Park are superb birdlife, elusive tree-climbing lions and abundant hippos. Although it is one of Tanzania’s smaller wildlife enclaves, Lake Manyara National Park is a spectacular reserve that boasts an incredible diversity of terrain, as well as plant and animal species. Standing high on the edge of a towering terracotta escarpment with panoramic views over the glittering alkaline waters of Lake Manyara. The made famous by elephant researcher, drain Douglas Hamilton in his book, ‘among the elephants’. It is located on the northern Tanzania safari circuit between Arusha and Ngorongoro Crater; Lake Manyara National Park is wonderful addition to any North Tanzania safari itinerary.
How to reach Lake Manyara National Park:
Reach by Road: On the Road safaris from Arusha take one to two hours to reach the entrance gate. These are access by road is surfaced in its entirety but internal roads may require a good clearance.
