Malindi Watamu Reserves
It is established in 1976 about 120 km2 from Mombasa (Malindi Town), the Reserve is a cooling escape for your eyes if you immensely support marine ecosystem. The small town of Malindi is at the centre of a strip of idyllic tropical beaches offering the visitor a range of world class resorts. Watamu and Malindi Marine National Parks, where variety of coral islets are spotted, strikingly Whale Island while you step into Mida Creek in the Watamu Marine National Park. At Watamu a Marine National Park has been established, an ideal day trip for divers and snorkellers alike. Its extensive mangrove forests are also gazetted as Forest Reserves, and the extreme western tip of Mida Creek is part of the Arabuko-Sokoke Forest Reserve. In the cool of the forest winding paths will take you in search of rare endemic birds and mammals, and visiting herds of Elephant. The Mida Creek forest has a high diversity of mangrove species including Ceriops tagal, Rhizophora mucronata, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Avicennia marina and Sonneratia Alba. Many hotels and resorts in this area have Mombasa shuttles or can arrange vehicle transfers. Malindi airport has daily scheduled flights to Mombasa, Nairobi and Lamu. The airport also serves Private Charters.

How to reach: From watamu is 120 kms north of Mombasa and 28km south of Malindi. At Gede, which is on the main Mombasa Malindi Road, you turn towards the Indian Ocean. 11kms from the main road is Watamu itself.
