Marine National Park
Marine National Park in the Gulf of Kutch is situated on the southern shore of the Gulf of Kachchh in the Jamnagar District of Gujarat state, India. It was established in 1980 and total area convered about of 162.89 km². Marine National Park and Sanctuary falls in the inter-tidal zone along the Jamnagar coasts and islands in the Gulf of Kachchh. As the tide turns, the beach floods with more birds than you’ve seen for months, feeding on the bodies of creatures left behind by the waters. It is about 58 km wide on the seaward (western) side, and 170 km wide in the eastern side. There are various varieties of turtles, shrimp, sponge, eels, sea urchin lurk, fishes and octopuses that create a brilliance of colours that can be unknown, unseen and unimaginable to us. The wildlife attractions in the Marine National Park: colourful coral reefs, mangrove swamp forests, mudflats, sea grass, sea weeds, Saag, Sesam, Kheru, Limda and rocky shoals form the landscape of the shallow waters of the Marine National Park. Coral reefs are the prime tourist attraction of the park. It is the only place in the world where one can view the reefs without diving into the water. These varieties of habitats support multitudes of fish, birds, reptiles and many other life forms.
