Sibiloi National Park
The park lies on the northeastern shore of Lake Turkana in northern Kenya, about 800km from Nairobi.It was Established in 1973 by the government of Kenya for the protection of wildlife and palaeontological sites there, it covers 1570 KM².Sibiloi National Park and Lake Turkana lies at an approximate height of 375M above sea level.The Sibiloi National Park is administered under Kenya Wildlife Service, which falls under the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources.The park was partially established through the initiative of National Museums of Kenya to protect unique prehistoric and archeological sites some of which are linked to the origin of man.Apart from these, the park has a wealth of affluent offshore areas specifically preserved for the conservation of crocodiles and birds as well as breeding grounds for fish. The three National Parks serve as a stopover for migrant waterfowl and are major breeding grounds for the Nile crocodile, hippopotamus and a variety of venomous snakes.Sibiloi National Park, in the far northern part of the country, contains sites where scientists from the University of Nairobi (including Richard Leakey) have excavated hominid remains since 1968.

How to reach Sibiloi National Park:
Reach By Road: Distance from Nairobi 800 KM north of Nairobi and high-clearance 4WD is essential all year round. Travel in convoy is Recommended.The Lake is a three day drive from Nairobi via Marsabit and North Horr, or Maralal and south Horr.From Kalokol boat hire services are available across the lake to Allia Bay.
