Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park is the 6 largest national parks in Tanzania after Ruaha, Serengeti, Mikumi, Katavi and Mkomazi. Tarangire National Park surrounded an area of 2,600 KM², between the plains of the Maasai Steppe to the south-east, and the lakes of the Great Rift Valley to the north and west. Tarangire is one of the most diverse parks in Tanzania and situated in the north-western corner of Tanzania’s Masai Steppe, east of The Great Rift Valley. Tarangire is surprisingly large giving visitors the quietest game viewing environment of all the parks in the region. Tarangire Treetops Tree houses perched high up in the age old Baobab and Marula trees. The Tarangire River has shrivelled to a shadow of its wet season self. The swamps, tinged green year round, are the focus for 550 bird varieties, the most breeding species in one habitat anywhere in the world.
