Buffalo Springs National Reserve
Buffalo Springs National Reserve is a protected area in the Isiolo District of Eastern Province in northern Kenya. The reserve was established in 1948 and covers area of 131 km2. Buffalo Springs National Reserve is separated from the Samburu National Reserve by the Ewaso Nyiro River. Buffalo Springs National Reserve is separated from the Samburu Reserve by the river; less hilly and less dense than its neighbour it is equally as attractive. Larger than its southern relative the Maasai ostrich, it is more easily distinguished by its indigo legs and neck. In addition to the wildlife found in Buffalo Springs National Reserve, the common zebra is also an attraction often marching with its cousin. Buffalo Springs Reserve Lodges and Hotels include Samburu Larsens Tented Camp, Samburu Serena Lodge, Samburu Saasab Camp, Samburu Bedouin Camp, Samburu Lodge. Buffalo Springs border each other, separated by the Ewaso Ngiro River, which is a permanent river cutting through the otherwise dry landscape. Important elephant migration corridors exist in this heartland, as well as northern specialty species like reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, beisa oxryx and gernuk. A smile and a polite gesture Gate Bridge from the Rangers perspective on my own experience, a game drive on the other side can be allowed to cross the river, but do not count on it. In the case of Buffalo Springs and, after the Isiolo county belongs to the same, so the tickets are valid for both. The generally dry biotope is reflected in the wildlife, which includes mammal and bird species that you can't see in most of the parks further south in Kenya.
