Darrah National Park
Darrah National Park in Rajasthan, India is a national park established in 2004 consisting of three wildlife sanctuaries in Rajasthan. It was established in 2004 and the area covered is about 250 km². Spread in a hilly area, the National Park is a combination of three wildlife sanctuaries named Darrah, Chambal and Jaswant Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary. Darrah National Park comprises of large forest tracts which were formerly hunting grounds of Kota Maharajah. The Darrah Sanctuary, spread over a hil ly terrain, was declared to be a protected area in 1955. This mysterious sanctuary has many species like cheetah, wild boar, wolf, deer, nigali, etc. In the days of yore, Darrah sanctuary used to be the royal hunting ground of the erstwhile maharaja of Kota before it was handed over to the government of India. A large variety of wild life is found in this region. Kota is on a high sloping tableland forming a part of the Malwa Plateau. At Darrah Sanctuary one can enjoy trekking along with jungle safari. The wildlife variety includes panther, wolf, sloth bear, chinkara and leopard. Sometimes closed during the monsoons, the park is also a home to spotted deer, wild boar, bears, sambars and antelopes.
