Selous Game Reserve
The Selous Game Reserve is one of the largest faunal reserves of the world; it is located in the south of Tanzania. Selous Game Reserve was gazetted in 1905 by the German colonial administration. The reserve was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1982.These are Covering 45,000 KM² of wilderness, with grassy plains, open woodland, mountains and forests, the Selous Game Reserve is Africa's largest game reserve. About four times the size of Serengeti and larger than Switzerland, it is home to the largest concentration of elephants in the world. The game reserve in Tanzania is home to stunning wildlife, but it's the giraffes that really stand out – and not just for the obvious reason. Home to some of Africa's best boat safaris, walking and fly camping trips makes the Selous the park in Tanzania with the greatest diversity of safari activities. How to reach Selous Game Reserve:
Reach by Road: The tavelling by road drive to Selous Game Reserve from Dar es Salaam is via Kibiti village and cross Mtemere entrance gates takes up to seven hours covering of 250 KM on where the first 150 KM of the road is well bituminized and the rest is on earth road. Drive from Morogoro to Selous Game Reserve takes about 5 hours passing through beautiful landscapes and scenery.

It was estimated that 64,400 elephants roam the two parks, with 84% on the Tanzanian side.
- Buffalo numbers are estimated at 120,000–150,000, and the reserve’s 40,000 hippo and 4,000 lion are probably the largest such populations on the continent.
- The Selous also harbors an estimated 100,000 wildebeest, 35,000 zebra, 25,000 impala and significant herds of giraffe, greater kudu, waterbuck, bushbuck, Lichtenstein's hartebeest and eland.
