Kitulo National Park
Kitulo National Park is a conserved area of alpine grassland and montane forest in the Southern Highlands of Njombe Region in Tanzania. The Park surrounded area of about 412.9 KM2.Kitulo National Park consists of the Kitulo Plateau, a botanical paradise between December and March. The Garden of God – with size of 412.9 KM2 , a rare botanical marvel, home to a full 350 species of vascular plants, including 45 varieties of terrestrial orchid, which erupt into a riotous wildflower display of breathtaking scale and diversity during the main rainy season of late November to April. The Kitulo National Park lies in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania and is made up of alpine grasslands and montane forests. There is almost no information for potential visitors to the park and, fow now, a lot of personal research is necessary to pull off the trip. One of the most important watersheds for the Great Ruaha River, Kitulo is well known for its floral significance – not only a multitude of orchids, but also the stunning yellow-orange red-hot poker and a variety of aloes, proteas, geraniums, giant lobelias, lilies and aster daisies, of which more than 30 species are endemic to southern Tanzania. Kitulo National Park which has recently become a fully protected national Park is situated on the Kitulo Plateau, which forms part of Tanzania’s southern highlands.
